SCAS are looking for Ambulance Care Assistants ACAs to be based at Ambulance resource centres as part of a team. ACAs work shifts, collecting patients from their home or healthcare setting to attend pre-arranged appointments including hospital admission. Do you have: Experience of working in a customer or patient care role? A full current driving licence with B and C1 categories, with 3 points or less? A category C1 element to your driving licence over 3500kg minimum of provisional entitlement must be held at the point of application and full entitlement obtained at least one month prior to starting the training? An ability to commitment to a 3 week full-time training programme paid and on-going shift work? We do not require any formal qualifications for this post but if you wanted to move up through the career options available then you will need: 3 GCSE’s at C or above including Maths and English or relevant related experience such as Armed Forces, 1st Aid training, care work etc. Training Initial 3 weeks full-time training including: full corporate induction; driving training; first aid; patient handling skills; equipment familiarisation and communication skills. You will need to demonstrate how you meet the criteria for the role and why we should employ you. If your application demonstrates that you are good enough to look after our patients and you are what we are looking for well done you then you will be invited to an assessment centre/interview so that we can see how you behave, respond and drive. All successful candidates who are offered a job with us will have to undertake clearance from the DBS disclosure and baring service and our Occupational Health department.
