Summary: Tanks, helicopters, Land Rovers : every vehicle in the Army needs fuel. As a Petroleum Operator, you make sure our troops get the petrol, diesel and oil they need to keep their vehicles running. You work in a Fuel Squadron: a small, highly skilled team that can also be attached to the Royal Marines and Airborne Forces. That means you could travel all over the world. Our training teaches you everything you need to know. With the chance to take qualifications, you can move up through the ranks and build a great CV : useful if you decide to leave. Until then, you can enjoy a fun, active life, full of sports, Adventurous Training and mates. Get in. Get on. You look after the Armys fuel supplies. You get petrol, oil and diesel to where theyre needed, so that our aircraft and vehicles can run. For this, you need to learn how to handle and deliver fuel safely. Our first:class training will bring you up to speed. Once youre trained, you can take qualifications that will help you get on : inside and outside the Army. Its a chance to be an important part of our team. Get skills You learn to inspect, store and deliver fuel supplies. Working with your team, you set up (and take down) storage tanks and pipelines, test fuel and use container filling and cleaning equipment. Safety is crucial and youll learn how to prevent and fight fires. Petroleum Operators often go on to work in the civilian petrol and oil industries. Get training During basic training, youll learn how to be a soldier: how to survive outdoors and fire weapons. Next, you do an eight:week course at West Moors in Dorset to learn your trade. You are taught how to store and handle fuels, spot hazards and deal with fires and dangerous problems. You start by working with a supervisor and helping trained personnel. Once youre more skilled, youll have more responsibility. During training, youll also learn to drive different types of vehicles. Get qualified The Army can help you gain a range of qualifications. These could include: Level 2 Certificate Logistics and Transport Affiliate Membership of CILT Get promoted Well be behind you every step of the way as you move up the ranks. Right from the start of your training, youll get the support and encouragement you need to make a success of your career. Work hard and you could get promoted, which will mean more responsibility and extra pay. And along the way, youll pick up qualifications that are recognised by civilian employers.
