Overview Excellent opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor with ambition to progress to work for a major contractor with a strong reputation for quality and employee development. Company Large Main Contractor, with a strong base in the Cumbria and Lancashire regions delivering a wide range of Building and Civil Engineering services across public & private sectors. Projects include new build and refurbishment across the commercial, social housing, healthcare, industrial, education and retail sectors. Company provides a very attractive work environment with a high staff retention figure. Job The successful candidate will have responsibility for the commercial management of a number of new build and refurbishment schemes, being responsible for either a project or multi project team of quantity surveyors, depending on business requirements. Duties include: § Commercially lead projects from their initial concept through to contract completion, including management of all consultants and supply chain. § Undertake Quantity Surveying duties including pricing of works, on-site measurements, variations, valuations and invoicing of clients. § Motivate and lead others to successfully deliver the commercial performance of construction projects § Engender good relations between existing and prospective Clients, Supply chain and other stakeholders. § Establishing, monitor, record and reports results and key performance indicators to commercial management team on a timely basis § Act as mentor, demonstrating best practice standards for Quantity Surveyors § Day to day line management responsibility for a team of Quantity Surveyors § Ability to manage multiple sites § Plan and Coordinate, monitor work commercial resource for responsible schemes. § Ensure timely and robust instigation of supply chain procurement in line with company and contract requirements and obligation. Experience Required A track record in a similar role with a national or regional main contractor is essential. The successful candidate will have experience on projects up to £8m in value. Quantity Surveying Degree preferable At least 7 years occupational experience in Quantity Surveying environment Experience of having worked on a variety of building contracts, in particular JCT design and build contracts and other JCT forms. Also NEC contracts and other partnering forms of contract Proven track record of working on both refurbishment and new build schemes The ability to work to deadlines is essential Clear understanding of contractual terms and conditions both sub-contract and main contract Remuneration £40 to 50k plus attractive package including company car/allowance, bonus, pension and healthcare This is a permanent position and Corepeople Recruitment Limited will be acting as an employment agency for permanent recruitment on behalf our client.
