JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Production/Installation Operative Reporting to:Production Supervisor Location: Head Office Production Facility, Marsh Barton, Exeter   Job Summary:  To work as part of the production team working on all types of commercial signage and vehicle liveries.Must be capable of and willing to install signs on site. Must be able to form cooperative and productive working relationships with colleagues.   Duties and Responsibilities: * Proactive engagement with supervisory staff to plan and produce, as per the production schedule. * To work independently and as cooperatively as a team member to efficiently produce all types of commercial signage and vehicle liveries. * Safe operation of machinery such as applicators, RollsRoller, cutters and to safely handle all tools and equipment. * Manual cutting of materials, accurately and safely to accurately monitor work progress and inform supervisory staff of issues before they become problems which effect production. * Apply safe and efficient work practices which eliminate risk and minimise wastage. And apply appropriate QC checks throughout the production process. * Apply a ‘clean as you go’ method of working to ensure the workplace is kept clean, tidy and safe. * Be aware of stock usage when preforming production tasks and inform supervisory staff when stock reaches minimum levels. * Ability to install signs on site; to include all types of commercial signage and in varying site conditions. * Must be willing to periodically conduct site work requiring overnights stays, away from the Company’s Exeter base. Reasonable notice will be provided of such requirements. * To drive company vehicles when required for site work, deliveries and collections while ensuring strict compliance with the Company’s driving policy. * Respect all Company policies on smoking, mobile phone use, timekeeping, eating and drinking in the workplace, hygiene and housekeeping. * Perform regular maintenance checks of tools and equipment; report faults and perform simple repairs or arrange for technical assistance where necessary. * Take personal responsibility for learning to safely operate new equipment and to pass on that knowledge to other staff. * Maintain professional standards by attending training courses and / or workshops as required * Interact with customers in a professional, courteous manner and be prepared to offer solutions to problems. * Be adaptable and enthusiastic when asked to handle new challenges. * Maintain a good working relationship with other staff members and be willing to assist with non-sign making duties such as general site admin and moving equipment * Ensure that all provided and non provided PPE Health & Safety workwear is worn at all times. * Ensure time keeping is precise at all times. * Ensure that provided GK Signs uniform is worn at all times, and is cleaned and worn to a presentable state agreed by the management.   Skills and Qualifications: ·              Minimum of 5 GCSE standard (or equivalent) passes at ‘C’ grade or above. * An NVQ qualification in sign making is preferred. * Full clean driving licence. * 2 years experience in the printing industry or similar fields is preferred. * Additional qualifications such as CSCS, PASMA, IPAF, AIMM (forklift), First Aider, Fire Warden would be advantageous. * Transferrable skills such as carpentry or metal work would be advantageous. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. * Willingness to undertake ongoing training and development.
