The people we support are at the heart of everything we do at CMG. Your job as a Support Worker is to ensure that they lead valued and fulfilling lives, helping them to tap into their potential and achieve to the best of their ability. Main responsibilities •Your role as a Support Worker will be to focus on the needs of the people we support, whether it is helping them to do their shopping, supporting them with their daily activities and hobbies, or even taking them on holiday. •You will work shifts and will be required to work on weekends and public holidays. You may also be asked to do sleep-ins, depending on the service. We operate homes 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. •You may be required to give medication and to make sure that a service user’s medical requirements are taken care of. •The safety of service users will be your responsibility at all times. •Our service users have varied interests and it will be your job to support them in these and to help them develop their talents. It is crucial to allow them choice and to keep in mind that each person needs a personalised approach. •You will be required to encourage and support service users to keep in touch with family and friends and to accompany them to social occasions. •Record keeping is an important part of the role. You will be required to write daily reports on activities, as well as devising and updating care plans and conducting risk assessments. •Part of your job will involve cleaning the house, with or without the aid of the service users. You may also be required to cook and shop for the people you support. Ideal candidate At CMG, we believe that a successful Support Worker doesn’t always have experience, but shares our vision to ensure that ‘every moment has potential’ for the people we support to learn new skills and to achieve their dreams. Basic numeracy and literacy skills as well as good English are a must. An NVQ/Diploma L2 or 3 in Health and Social Care and some experience in care work would be an added bonus, but we have a fantastic in-house training team who can help you along if you are taking your first steps in your career as a support worker.
