2nd Line Desktop Support £20,000 per year This role provides an opportunity for an experienced IT support engineer to join one of the market leaders within the automotive retail industry. Based from their offices in Newcastle you will provide remote and desk side IT support to their many sites across the UK. You will provide support via such methods as email, phone, in person or remotely across their broad range of IT equipment and infrastructure within their support team. The day to day tasks required in this role but not limited to are: - Receiving, prioritising, documenting and actively resolving end user help requests across the full range of IT systems and services. - Troubleshooting issues in a timely, efficient and accurate manner keeping the end user notified of current progress. - Maintaining consistent, accurate and up-to-date call logging with end user notification a key aspect. - Completing and documenting current starters and leavers processes in line with Group procedures, ensuring systems are up to date and secure. - Carry out new machine preparation for remote installation or engineer rollout including software and user configuration. - Managing escalated calls including those to third parties ensuring they are resolved to the end users satisfaction. - Maintain group assets and infrastructure to include monitoring system backup state, system upgrades and ensuring optimum performance. - Maintain the asset database ensuring asset location throughout the group is accurate and up to date. - Involvement in key project/acquisition tasks which may arise at short notice. The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas: - A very good working knowledge of PCs, Microsoft operating systems including both desktop and server environments, popular windows applications, Networks, and E-mail, with a working knowledge of the following - Active Directory/Domain Environments. - Microsoft Outlook / POP3 / Exchange email systems. - Anti-virus software, monitoring and Spam Filtering. - Networking (TCP/IP, VPN Access etc). - Internet access and restrictions, set-up, trouble shooting, reporting. - Remote support tools including Remote Desktop, VNC applications. - Printers, scanners, wireless network devices. - Microsoft Office Applications.
