Randstad Care are currently recruiting for Support Workers to work at a residential school for children between 7 - 19 years with Autism. The role is based on the outskirts of Tewkesbury and set in the beautiful countryside. The role is offered on a permanent basis with the starting pay rate being between £8 and £9 per hour dependant on experience and qualifications. Our client is one of the UKs largest providers of specialist services that support children, young people and adults with a range of services including Mental Health, Education and Learning Disabilities. As a Support Worker you will work as part of the care team to maintain a happy and caring environment that puts the welfare of the service users at the forefront. Ideal candidates will need to be patient and understanding to help the children learn and develop. The school is very modern and has fantastic facilities including sensory-therapy rooms, sensory gardens and a farm/animal area. Responsibilities -Supporting with the day to day activities and personal care needs of the service users -Adhering to and updating care plans for the service users you support as instructed by the trained staff -Assisting the service users with various social activities and hobbies in the unit and in the community -Assisting in de-escalation and/or with the management of challenging behaviour where applicable -Supporting and encouraging independence for the service user -Adhering to all policies and procedures of the service and maintaining confidentiality of all matters concerning the service and the service users Requirements -Clear understanding of Autism and supporting Children with Autism -Ability to communicate on all levels -Ability to be demonstrate a flexible work attitude -Good interpersonal skills -Experience within a care setting or preferably Autism and with children is desirable but not essential Staff Benefits -Training and Development -Staff benefits schemes This position is suitable for new entrants to the profession but equally could be for applicants with relevant experience and skills.
