JOB DESCRIPTION:

DevOps Specialist/6 Months/ Circa £450 a day/ Bracknell Based Mainly A talented and experienced DevOps Specialist is required for a small distributed team within a Programme developing a greenfield platform. Responsibilities will include: Working with the Solutions Architects to determine the optimum design for hosting and managing Web Apps and Business Systems, implementing Backup and DR strategies for all infrastructure, implementing monitoring and management solutions for all infrastructure and Business systems, implementing and refining existing CI / CD infrastructures, reviewing and refining the implementation and controls for existing infrastructure Skills required: Extensive knowledge of Continuous Delivery and Continuous Integration solutions (Jenkins, Travis, CircleCI, AWS CodePipeline etc) Version Control Systems (Git) Scripting using Bash and other scripting languages Operating Systems (Linux) and Cloud specific distributions (CoreOS, Extensive knowledge of the AWS Cloud Platform including technologies such as EC2, S3, Cloud Formation, Elastic Beanstalk, OpsWorks, CodeDeploy) Container and VM Technologies including Docker, XEN, VMWare Good Communications Skills The skills below are desirable and would be an advantage: Cloud Deployment Technologies such as Heroku, Deis, Docker Swarm, CoreOS, Apache Mesos Experience of Configuration Management Systems such as Chef or Puppet Knowledge around the challenges and pitfalls of hosting JVM based platforms such as Play Framework, Akka, Spray NoSQL Databases such as Cassandra, Couchbase, AWS DynamoDB SQL Databases such as PostgreSQL Database Messaging Systems such as Apache Kafka, AWS SQS The project is likely to be require some level of remote working and the candidates must have their own offices/studies and laptops / tools. These roles are intended for senior technicians who are self-starters and comfortable working in small, agile teams.
