JOB DESCRIPTION:

Group Capital & Liquidity Reporting Manager / Accountant / Accounting / Finance Manager / Financial Services Cardiff Commutable from Swansea, Newport and Port Talbot Salary from £45,573 pa Our client  is the UK’s 6th largest building society with 53 branches and 18 agencies across Wales and the Borders. They are a mutual building society, founded in 1860. Being a mutual means that they are owned by and run for the benefit of the 500,000 Members – the savers and borrowers. Their key priority is to keep the Members’ money safe – and their consistently good financial performance reflects this. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Society s Finance team in a new role, managing the Group s capital, liquidity and interest rate risk regulatory reporting. The role offers significant breadth beyond a core accounting role, including leadership of technical reporting change initiatives and exposure to senior management, Group committees and key external stakeholders. Applicants must be a qualified accountant or equivalent, with significant post qualification experience, ideally within a financial services organisation. They must be self-starting, able to lead cross-functional teams and to pick up new concepts and skills quickly. They must be able to interpret detailed technical and legal documents, to understand their impact on the Group, and be able to communicate that impact to a broad range of stakeholders in a simple and understandable way. They must also be capable of exercising judgement and making appropriate decisions, in an environment where there is often significant ambiguity as to requirements. They must be able to design and operate an efficient and effective control framework within which to produce the Group s reports. As well as a great working environment and plenty of opportunities for development and growth you can expect a generous package that includes pension, bonus and incentive schemes, free life assurance cover, critical insurance protection from day one and the option to buy extra holiday each year as well as the option to join the popular Sports and Social Club. They welcome applications from suitably qualified people from all sections of the community and value the individual differences that people can bring to the Building Society.
